I have joined the group doing A Picture A Day for January 2009. I think that it is such a whimsical idea. They haven't emailed me back with acceptance, but I decided to do it anyway. The link is to the left. This is my picture for Jan 1. My ex-DIL bought me my first orchid for Mothers Day a couple of years ago. I was just extatic about this beautiful flower. She was my ex-DIL when she got this for me so that made it even more special. Anyway, having never owned an orchid I had no idea what the trick might be to make them bloom again. Still don't, so I guess this is just dumb luck. This is the 3rd time this orchid has bloomed for me and I just love it's color and am always in awe of nature's delicacy and perfection. Looking at things like this makes me feel God all around me in his exquisit creations. It touches my soul. Now, off to find a picture for the 2nd.

Aren't they just the most wonderful of flowers, they last so long and that is a treat. Congrats on getting it to bloom again.

A lovely gift from your ex-DIL and how pretty it is in bloom! I remember my parents used to grow a few different orchid varieties....I so admire people who have a natural green thumb. I hear orchids can be quite difficult to grow so you must be doing something right. :)

Orchids are my favorite -- I carried them in my wedding bouquet. Yours is simply lovely. I've never had the courage to try to take care of one. Is it very hard?

This is lovely. My poor little orchid thrives under my neglect and I get a bloom two or three times a year. I hope you have good luck with yours.

Beautiful orchid! I haven't had good luck getting them to rebloom except for one. I totally neglect it as it sits on my patio, and it seems to thrive, producing beautiful blooms every spring. Maybe that is the key- neglect! LOL!
